WIRED Innovation: Rural Prosperity & Entrepreneurial Development

Innovation Champion: Andy Lofgren

The Rural Prosperity & Entrepreneurial Development Innovation  was created to implement a comprehensive system of entrepreneurial support programs across the rural counties across the West Michigan region. These counties include Newaygo, Barry, Ionia and Montcalm.

For each county, an Entrepreneur Champion will be selected to build a “toolbox” of services and programs that will be available for residents and will guide them along the way as they build their businesses.

The Rural Prosperity & Entrepreneurial Development Innovation plans to provide business counseling services to at least 100 new and existing small businesses, in addition to providing training and skills development to at least 100 people utilizing the FastTrac® curriculum.

The Innovation has committed to establishing at least 20 new businesses within the four counties by June 2009.
