WIRED Innovation: Second Chance Job Project

Innovation Champion: Miriam Aukerman

Through the Second Chance Job Project Innovation, Legal Aid of Western Michigan is working to improve prisoner reentry into the workforce by educating the region’s employers in the value of hiring ex-offenders.

Together with the Reentry Employment Resource Center (RERC), Legal Aid will provide employers with the tools necessary to improve their hiring of ex-offenders. Legal Aid will hold employer recruitment seminars and job placement trainings and will coordinate with the RERC on the placement of the ex-offenders into the workforce.
